Hi,
This is SMA, writing again.
So the most recent Presidential elections is almost over, and with 98.05% of votes that come in, here's the partially/unofficial results.
Yes, I'm devastated.
I'm not happy because Leni (whom I voted for) did not win.
I did not vote for her to defeat BBM.
Not for the hype, but because of hope.
Hope.
Hope, that finally, the Philippines will have a chance to experience what good governance is;
that we can have a leader who really thinks of its citizens first, before themselves;
that we (and our future kids) can have a chance of a better future;
and that at least once, we can really say "We stand for what is right, and we've won".
Sadly, Looks like majority of us did not learn from what had happened from the last 6 years.
Last 2016 elections, I voted for DU30, also with a hope.
Hoping that he will not become like other politicians who run politics for their own good.
I was so wrong, so I need to make better choices.
Not only I, but We.
6 years is a short time, but a lot of things can happen within that short time.
Within the next 6 years, I will probably have my first child.
I want him/her to have a wonderful future.
I want him/her to have good education
I want him/her to have freedom to experience and do things.
These next few years will determine the life of our kiddos.
Some people say that "If you are not lazy, you will have a comfortable life." and
"You don't have to depend on the government for your own living if you are not lazy".
For the people who say this, you are blessed, and I'm hoping that they do not experience being unemployed, going through depression for getting rejected from multiple job applications.
I hope that they always have food on their plate.
I hope the don't get sick and worry about money when they need to buy medicines.
People are working their asses off, yet still be poor.
Our farmers most probably wakes up before sunrise, and go to bed late, working for more than 12 hours a day. And just eat root crops to save money.
People in the metro will definitely decline working above 8 hours daily even if paid overtime.
Filipino's want to do this farming jobs overseas because it pays more.
I saw that Leni had the initiative to make positive changes for the country.
She was the previous Vice President of the country, and while on pandemic, she was able to get assistance, mobilize and help to our people.
She was able to do a lot, with limited things at hand. What else of she have more.
She was able to spread positive characteristics to people around her.
I voted for Leni for a better future, for a better Philippines.
For my parents to be comfortable, for the future generation, for us.
I'm devastated because I feel that it was stolen form us.
That we will have to suffer another 6 years before getting another change of getting a bright future.
Even after this 6 years, I can't imagine what will be left for us, which worries me more.
If you can read this, BBM supporters, I know you are happy your candidate won.
But are you happy for the Philippines?
If I'm wrong, please educate me.
Yes, it was too early to say things. But what can I do?
We cannot stop democracy, where the majority leads.
Let us all pray for our country.
That the Lord keep an eye on us, and hear us.
I still have a spark of hope in my heart.
The Hope and Faith within me will not die.
I hope that he (BBM) will do what he promised to improve the Philippines (I've not heard anything clear so far).
The 20 pesos rice is to far from reality. But let us see if he can do it.
Let us observe on what he can and will accomplish for the next 3, 6 and 12 months.
Then let us blog again.
